Description:
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Behavioral Health (Full-Time/Night Shift) to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Behavioral Health who will provide patient care to young, middle and older adults by using the nursing process skills of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provide patient care to adolescents, young, middle and older patients.
In this position you will:
Maintain patient confidentiality according to state and federal regulations, code of conduct standards of Little Company of Mary Health Services and the department
Assist with or monitoring emergency measure for sudden or adverse development in patients condition, obtaining immediate assistance while maintain patient accountability
Assess patient's current physical, social, emotional and economic status and past medical history on admission, and completing data base according to Peninsula Recovery Center Policy & Procedure
Initiate care plan within established Peninsula Recovery Center Policy & Procedure time frames,According to Peninsula Recovery Center Policy & Procedure assessing patients medical, physical status daily
Formulate a nursing diagnosis, setting goals and prescribing appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals. Modifying care plan daily to meet patient needs and conditions. Example: create problem list and write corresponding treatment and/or discharge plans within 48 hour.
Plan the patient care by determinating patient care assignments based on acuities, patient's needs and team members' ability, competence and legal limitations
Implement the plan of care by performing direct care using technical knowledge and skills, including medication administration and coordinating consultations when necessary
Evaluate plans of care are least every 24 hours, modifying and adjusting plan as indicated by patient needs
Demonstrate knowledge and practicing aspect technique, universal precautions and infection control principles at all times in the performance of patient care
Conduct patient education groups or individual patient education as assigned by supervisor or based upon department needs
Maintain a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff according to Policy &.Procedures (Little Company of Mary Health Services and Peninsula Recovery Center)
Perform utilization review function when U.R. Nurse is not available to speak to an Insurance Company

Communicate information:
Give a thorough, concise patient report and controlled substance account(s) at change of shift
Communicated appropriate information to unit change person prior to end of shift
Demonstrate neatness and legibility in medical records and all departmental records and accurately transcribes physician orders at all times in accordance to nursing policy and procedures manual
Use Meditech computer accurately according to Meditech Policies (see Information Systems Policy Manual)
Record patient data and progress each shift for all detoxification patients and daily for all other patients
Apply nursing process in developing patient treatment plans according to department policy and procedures manual
Complete all required documentation regarding all incidents or injuries in accordance with policy and procedure manual
Must maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Failure to do so is a violation of department, hospital and human resources policy and will result in disciplinary action including and up to discharge
Development:
Complete mandatory continuing education requirements (30 CEU's per 2 year period) for re-licensure on own initiative and demonstrates interest in personal growth through attendance of workshops and seminars and /or review of literature in the nurse aspect of the chemical addiction treatment field
Attend 50 percent of quarterly in house administrative, team building and educational work shops
As updates are received (all Policy and Procedure) immediately review and seek clarification where needed, becoming knowledgeable about changes and communicating the same to required staff
Performance Improvement:
Actively participate in the performance improvement program as designed by the Coordinator of the PIP program
Budgetary:
Charge equipment, supplies and medication for patients and correctly initiate and discontinue all daily charges
Budget time/nursing duties to complete job according to employee status (full time and per diem)
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate from an approved school of nursing or psychiatric technician program
Current active California R.N., L.V.N. or L.P.T. license
Comprehensive communication skills, verbal and writte.
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
Meets proficiency standards of performance as established by San Pedro Peninsula Hospital nursing standards
Requires the ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationships with patients, families, visitors, hospital staff and co-workers
