Providence Health & Services Parent Coach II - Welcome Baby in San Pedro, California
Providence is calling for Parent Coach II for Welcome Baby (Full Time - Day Shift) to Providence Little Company of Mary in San Pedro, CA.

In this position you will:
The primary function of the Parent Coach II is to provide education, support and resources for home visitation families.
The parent coach is also responsible for conducting the prenatal and postpartum visits in the home, supporting families and providing some primary parent education in the areas of breastfeeding and child development.
The parent coach is also responsible for referring families to community-based supports, if needed.
This is a Grant funded position.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor degree required in child development, social work, psychology, human development or related field.
Experience working with families from diverse age, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
One year experience in maternal and child home visitation.
Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to promote bonding and attachment between infant-primary caregiver.
Ability to assess families across a broad spectrum of areas, recognizing professional boundaries and the need for consultation from other disciplines.
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Empathy, warmth, and the ability to establish ongoing supportive relationships with an ethnically diverse population.
Knowledgeable about local community resources and able to refer families to appropriate agencies.
Knowledge of normal fetal, infant, and toddler development; prenatal and child health requirements; and early childhood education best practices.
Familiarity with the effects of domestic violence and parental alcohol and/other other drug abuse on family health, parenting, and general functioning.
Familiarity with the effects of perinatal depression on child development, parenting, and general functioning.
Current valid California Drivers license and automobile insurance.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Child Development Associate (CDA) certification preferred.
Must complete CLE training within six months of hire.
Must complete 100% of WB training topics within one year of hire.
