Providence is calling a Manager Facilities (Full time/Day shift) to Providence Little Company Of Mary San Pedro Hospital in San Pedro, CA.
We are seeking a Manager Facilities who will provide management oversight for all phases of hospital construction projects, including coordinating workers, materials, and equipment. Ensure all specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Assist the Regional Director with the day-to-day operational and personnel activities of the Engineering, Biomed Engineering, and Security departments. Schedule and inspects the work of all Engineering staff. Assist the Regional Director in operational and budgetary planning for the maintenance of the facility and proposed projects. Select, train and evaluate staff; assure that Hospital and Department policies are observed. Resolve difficult or complex issues encountered by the staff. Maintain hospital facility ensuring maximum efficiency.

Communicate effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations Adult, Geriatric
Manage and lead staff members in performance and progress of work in assigned engineering functions and/or projects. Develop work assignments, inspect work in progress and assure successful completion of work. Ensure department operates in compliance with established policies and procedures of the hospital, regulations of applicable regulatory agencies and standards of JCAHO
Responsible for appropriate conduct management of staff members, Perform conflict-resolution, present staff commendations, conduct problem solving and implement progressive disciplinary actions appropriate to Hospital policies and procedures
Responsible for the recruitment and retention of qualified staff members Responsible to appropriately orient, develop and train staff members
Conduct regularly schedules staff meetings to communicate issues regarding compliance with established procedures and overall work unit effectiveness Review and set productivity and work measurement standards for engineering personnel, and as needed, perform skilled work activities related to carpentry, painting, demolition, construction, and general maintenance
Provide leadership in problem identification and resolution and coordinate resolution between departments as needed. Promote and establish an atmosphere of Total Quality Improvement throughout the department with motivation, coaching and staff development and through evaluation, development and/or revision of department policies and procedures
Monitor utility expenses for the hospital. Take the necessary steps for implementing or improving cost control measures. Carry out the department budget, assure compliance and provide justification for variances as requested
Serve as liaison with utility and governmental officials to ensure conformance with international building codes and all fire and safety standards and regulations
Track and control project schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated. Review reports, check on any reported difficulties, and take the necessary steps to correct any safety violations or other reported deficiencies. Meet with appropriate personnel on progress and any necessary modifications of plans that may seem indicated
Develop cost effective plans and schedules for completion of hospital projects following a logical pattern for utilization of resources. Select and coordinate the work of all subcontractors during the various phases of the project
Oversee the performance of all trades and contractors to ensure all specifications and regulations are being followed. Oversee the installation and repair of utilities and equipment ensuring conformance with safety and fire regulations. Coordinate in-house and outside contractor construction activities ensuring the compliance of International Building codes, OSHPD, and ADA
Establish preventive maintenance and repair logs in accordance with operational parameters and manufacturers recommendations
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire
3 years progressive management/supervision experience in construction, and maintenance of equipment, utilities, and buildings
Ability to plan and execute a full range of administrative tasks in operating a large and complex department
Ability to analyze complex problems and situations and realize potential effects of proposed actions
Proficient in knowledge of federal, state and local building codes, standards and specifications
Proficient in facilities management techniques for healthcare facility
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent field
Los Angeles County Boiler Operator License
