Providence is calling a Cook (Part time/Variable Shift) to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA.
We are seeking a Cook under general supervision, who will be responsible to complete job duties according to assigned task and analysis. Responsibility of production for patient and non-patient meal services. Employee must be able to relate to and work with all ages between neonatal and geriatrics.
In this position you will:
Accurately prepare meals using proper techniques
Prepare meals which are of good quality, seasoned properly, of proper doneness, temperature, consistency, on time and presented attractively
Follow patient tally sheets and all recipes
Label, date and rotate food appropriately and returns unused foods to proper storage areas
Practice proper infection control techniques and keeps a clean environment
Prepare grill items to proper portions, doneness, temperature and appropriately garnishes them in a timely manner
Prepare and set up food for cafeteria meal service
Communicate work-related problems and personal concerns to a supervisor in a timely manner
Communicate to others in a calm, tactful and professional manner
Seek clarification when unsure of a procedures
When appropriate, answer department phone in a courteous manner, identify oneself and department
Ability to be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision
Demonstrate a positive approach to job changes
Able to adjust work output to fluctuating job demands
Willing to work in all units if needed during staffing shortages
Willing to adapt to changes
Able to recognize potent1al problems and take appropriate action
Accept responsibility for actions and willing to take action to resolve problems
Willing and able to train new employees
Attend all relevant meetings and in services when on duty
Willing and able to follow supervisory instructions
Demonstrate understanding of the job and its requirements
Demonstrate an understanding of disaster procedures, body mechanics, proper use of equipment and cleaning agents. fire safety and MSDS
Exercise care when using food, chemical and paper supplies
Perform duties in time allotted
Required qualifications for this position include:
1 year institutional food service experience
Requires the ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families, visitors, hospital staff and co-workers
Requires the ability to make calculations
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Graduation from technical or culinary school majoring in culinary art
