Providence Health & Services Assistant Manager Nursing Outpatient Behavioral Health in San Pedro, California
Providence is calling an Assistant Manager Nursing (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Little Company Of Mary San Pedro Hospital in San Pedro, CA.
We are seeking an Assistant Manager Nursing who will be part of the San Pedro Behavioral Health leadership team accountable for management of clinical and operational activities within Behavioral Health.The ANM will be responsible for assisting the Director in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit. Duties include but not limited to ensuring competency of clinical and non-clinical caregivers; maintaining compliance to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; ensuring policies and standard work is up-to-date; collaborating with other behavioral health and ministry leaders; supporting physicians and caregivers in delivering quality health care to patients.
In collaboration with the Director, assumes 24/7 responsibility for the management and staffing of the unit.The ANM manages and coordinates the unit, directs and supervises functions and activities, interprets policies/procedures/protocols, standards, and regulations as appropriate. The scope of responsibility spans all aspects of nursing care.The ANM maintains clinical competence and certifications to assist the unit when required.
In this position you will:
Supervise the planning, coordination and delivery of patient care activities of the unit(s) in a team environment.
Supervise in coordinating daily staffing and utilization of health care providers according to established standards of care and competencies.
Collaborate with all other hospital management personnel in problem solving in the absence of the manager.
Participate in interviewing, selecting, training, developing, coaching, evaluating, appraising and disciplining department staff. In conjunction with manager, processes terminations.
Supervise scheduling process of staff.
Oversight of managing Kronos activities.
Provide input to development and revision of unit policies and procedures.
Promote harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes amongst the Health Care Team.
Inspect the unit regularly for compliance with department policies and procedures, standards and regulations, and takes corrective action when indicated.
Ensure compliance with laws and policies which govern assigned areas.
Promote and maintains a positive and open working relationship with the medical staff and other hospital departments.
Conduct staff meeting posting agendas and minutes in department.
Assist to resolve patient complaints in a timely manner, referring to Manger/Director or other sources to intervene as appropriate.
Serve as a role model to staff in upholding positive relationships with patients and visitors.
Consult and serve as a resourced professional to staff members by identifying learning needs and providing instructions to staff member when observed to be needed.
Contribute creative ideas for systems and supplies; participates in evaluation of new products, supplies and equipment.
Provide direction to nursing staff to get their assignments completed in a timely manner and to assure that all team members will/are working at their capacity.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Coursework/Training in Nursing
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, within 3 years of accepting position
Current California Registered Nurse License
Requires Current BLS-HCP – Basic Life Support - for Healthcare Providers
Mandatory Certifications as Per HR Regional Policy, Mandatory Education Policy 4068
3 years recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
Proven leadership ability and hospital operational expertise
Ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing
Strong knowledge base or experience in specialty areas assigned.
Requires ability to establish priorities, organize, and coordinate work activities
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to exercise good judgment independently
Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks under pressure
Ability to build trust and accountability with each team member regardless of their area of expertise

Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience
Shared Governance experience
